A Two-days workshop on “Educational & Industrial Applications of MATLAB” was organized by Department of ECE & EEE on February 6th - 7th, 2013 for 4th Semester ECE, EEE & IT students. The workshop was conducted by Sofcon India Private Limited.

 

On day one of workshop Prof. Nandita Pradhan, HOD-ECE welcomed the experts from Sofcon India Pvt. Ltd. and delivered her enlightening key note address and declared the workshop open.

 

Mr. Rahul Dhiman-Resarch Engineer, Sofcon India Private Limited explained the educational and industrial applications of MATLAB. It was followed by an overview of different MATLAB Windows - Editor, Work Space, Command History, Command Window and MATLAB tools.

 

The workshop had four practical sessions in two days. In the first practical session on 6th February, Mr. Devendra Pratap Singh demonstrated the Matrix algebra, Graphics User Interface Development, Graphics Editing, 2D & 3D graph plotting. In second practical session Mr. Arvind Kumar gave the hands-on training on Simulink with different example of Sim Electronics and Sim Power.

 

In first practical session of second day i.e. on 7th February, Mr. Arvind Kumar, gave the hands-on training on Control System & Robotics. The students learnt the tools with different examples of motion control, position control, flow control etc.

 

Mr. Deep Shikhar Shukla, Mr. Devendra Pratap Singh and Mr. Rahul Dhiman jointly handled the second practical session of the second day. They demonstrated the digital signal processing and Image processing tools and explained the procedure to train and simulate Neural Network & Artificial Intelligence problems. During this session, students learned filter design and analysis tool, different learning rules, import of input & target data, to check the performance of the network by plotting graph, mean square error etc. with the help of various examples.

 

At the valedictory function Prof. (Dr.) M. S. Murali, Director, DGI, Greater Noida, honored the experts of team Sofcon with a memento. Certificates of participation were distributed to the participants.
