Workshop on
Ethical Hacking and Web Technology
(11th - 12th Feb. 2013)

A two days workshop on Ethical Hacking and Web Technology was organized by the Computer Society of India –Student Chapter of Droncharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida on 11th and 12th February, 2013. The workshop was conducted by Innovians Technology, Noida.

Mr. Prateek Gupta, Director - Innovians Technology explained the technical skills on Ethical Hacking and Web Technology using Joomla Software to the students of Computer Science & Information Technology which was attended by more than 100 students.

The aim of this workshop was to provide introduction and practical approach to the students about ethical hacking and web technology using Joomla. Mr. Gupta focused on ethical hacking which is often performed by white hats or skilled computer experts. It is the use of programming skills to determine vulnerabilities in computer systems. While the non-ethical hackers or black hat exploit these vulnerabilities for mischief, personal gain or other reasons, the ethical hacker evaluates them, points them out, and may suggest changes to systems that make them less likely to be penetrated by black hats. White hats can work in a variety of ways. Many companies utilize ethical hacking services from consultants or full-time employees to keep their systems and information as secure as possible. The work of ethical hacking is still considered hacking because it uses knowledge of computer systems in an attempt to in some way penetrate them or crash them. This work is ethical because it is performed to increase the safety of the computer systems. Thus, the goal of ethical hacking is to determine how to break in or create mischief with the present programs running, but only at the request of the company that owns the system and specifically to prevent others from attacking it.

Prof. Amit Sharma, HOD-IT assured the trainer that the students will utilize the skills cultured during the workshop and implement them in developing various web based projects to enhance their career opportunities.

The Workshop concluded with a vote of thanks by Prof. Sachin Gupta, HOD – CSE.

Prof. B. L. Kaul, Registrar, DGI presented a memento to Mr. Parteek Gupta, Director - Innovians Technology in appreciation of his efforts in conducting the workshop.
