Training on Red Hat Linux
22nd June 2015 - 3rd July 2015
 

A Two weeks Training Program on ‘Red Hat Linux’ was organized at Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida during 22nd June to 3rd July 2015. Students from Computer Science & Engineering (CSE) and Information Technology (IT) branches participated in the training program. Mr. Subhrajit Nag, Head of Department, Department of CSE, IT and MCA coordinated the training program.

 

The candidates participated in the training program are Suprabha Pandey(7056), Ashish Singh (7011) , Sooraj (8991) , Kr. Sourav (7069) , Nishit Priya (7136) , Mohana Pant (9056) , Narender (9057) , Jitender Chaurasia (9706) , Sushant Jugran (7143) , Rahul Rai (7140) and Praveen Kr. (7138).

 

The training sessions were delivered by Mr. Prabhat Goyal, Sr. Trainer from Network Nuts Pvt. Ltd, Red Hat Authorized Delivery Partner, as preparation for RHCSA global certification exam. The proceedings of the first day of the training commenced with an inaugural session attended by Prof. (Dr.) S.K. Bagga, Director and Prof. B. L. Kaul, Registrar, DGI, Greater Noida.

 

In the first week, the students were taught the basics of Red Hat Linux Operating System Version 7.0 like installation and practice sessions were given to make themselves accustomed to the command line interface of Linux. They were told about the different commands to manage, create, view and edit files from the command line, to manage the local linux users and groups and about their password protection. They were also shown the techniques of configuring the OpenSSH service, analyzing and storing log files and archiving and copying files between systems. The topic of Network Configuration on Red Hat Enterprise Linux captured the interest of the students and they also went on to learn about the ways to break Root Password in RHEL.

 

The second week started with the topic of automatic installation procedure using kickstart. The students were told about the various text editors and scheduling future routine tasks on Linux platform. Controlling of Linux process priorities and adding disks, partitions and file systems to the Linux servers were covered in great details. The trainers briefed the students on the vast topics relating to Managing the SELinux Security and configuring the Samba and Network Time Server. The last topic of the training comprised of the ways to troubleshoot the Linux Boot Process and configuring the Linux firewall.

 

The two weeks training concluded with the practical hands-on training gave the students a chance to understand the ways in which academic knowledge could be utilized in the industrial environment and they were highly enthusiastic in attending the advanced training concepts of Linux.
