Workshop on Embedded System and Robotics
Department of Information Technology

Workshop on "Embedded System and Robotics" was conducted on 30-Aug-2012 by Department of Information Technology where the resource persons were from Sofcon India Pvt. Ltd., Noida which was specifically aimed to bridge the gap between Industry & Academia thus inspiring new technical innovation, learning and creativity. There were fifty-nine student participants including 3rd, 5th and 7th semester B.Tech (IT) students along with MCA 1st year and faculty members of Department of Information Technology.

The introduction of the presentation included an embedded system is any device that includes a programmable computer for a specific task. Sometimes it is also said that, an embedded system is nearly any computing system other than a desktop computer whereas robotics is a field that covers almost all the spheres of technology, whether it is Electronics, Computer Programming, Mechanical, Designing Techniques or any other technical skills based on respective applications. This was basically a micro controller based robotic workshop which gives an exposure about the autonomous robotics to the students that has been designed using embedded C programming.

Secondly the workshop focused on successful applications of the Embedded System and Robotics. These technologies found everywhere these days whether it may be our cell phone, digital camera, portable video games, calculators, digital watches, and etc… the list can go on for a really long time. This has given the students a clear idea of the broad application base of Embedded systems and Robotics. The workshop finally focused on project oriented concepts, so as to make the students to grasp the concepts well .
