Mr. Gyanendra Kumar, Assistant Professor, Department of Civil Engineering, Dronacharya Group of Institutions, presented his research paper on “Role of Construction Waste Management in Smart Cities”. He said that construction waste management is very essential for the development of country. All over the world, the growth of Construction Industry is enormous in the past decade. The speed of generation of Construction and Demolition (C&D) waste is also significant high. The C&D waste stream comprises of four major sub - categories: Land Clearing Debris, Transportation Related Debris, Building Construction, Demolition Debris and Disaster Debris. Countries like U.K, U.S.A., France, Denmark, Germany and Japan have succeeded in developing economically feasible technologies for recycling 80 to 90 percent of C & D waste. Efforts are being taken by India for the utilization of construction waste. Mr. Kumar’s research paper focuses on the efficient use of construction and demolition waste as availability of the aggregates are limited for the production of concrete that is the major problem faced by the construction industry. He further mentioned that there is a dire need to lay emphasis on 3Rs concept for paving the way for achieving the goal of smart cities i.e. Reduce, Reuse & Recycling which will ultimately add to the green and smart city initiative of government of India. He said that in this developing scenario, there will be a huge amount of debris which will choke the cities . So there is a need of C & D Waste management planning and strategies.

This conference offered a platform to discuss and exchange concept of current developments, innovations and expansions on Make in India. This conference also gave opportunity to researchers from various disciplines to present their current works from different fields.

The conference ended with the distribution of certificates to the participants.
