Industrial Visit to ‘Destini India Ltd.’
Dhankote, Gurgaon

An industrial visit to Destini India Ltd., Dhankote, Gurgaon was organized by the Master of Business Administration Department, Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida on 2nd April, 2014 for the students of MBA, MCA and B.Tech. Dr. Sahab Singh, Assistant Professor, Dept. of MBA, DGI- GN, Dr. Pankaj Tiwari, Assistant Professor, Dept. of MBA, DGI- GN and Ms. Megha Gaur, Assistant Professor, Dept. of MBA, DGI- GN accompanied the students on the visit.

 

Destini India Ltd. is one of the leading and pioneer Manufacturer and Exporter of Iron, glass and Wooden Handicraft items to various countries all over the world. It has a factory area of 80,000 Sq. fts with 105 employees and a team of professionals who execute the orders efficiently that fulfills the requirements of the customers. It has production capacity to cater orders worth about US$ 0.40 Million per month and the annual turnover comes to about US$ 3.5 Million.

 

Students left the campus for the visit by college bus at 10:00 AM and reached the plant at around 12:30 PM. Mr. Girish Goswami, General Manager, Production attended the students himself and explained the whole process of manufacturing various glassware and iron handicrafts as well as the labeling and packaging of material. He started by the glass manufacturing and highlighted various intricacies involved in the process like coloring, designing, heating, baking and assembling of the glass at various stages. The handmade designs on the glass seemed possible only through the sheer hard work of the skilled labor.

 

Iron products like candle stands, gardening accessories, mirror frames etc. were made, finished and powder coated in the plant though various mechanisms.

 

Waste water treatment plant is also set up to remove all the chemicals and hence gives a positive impression of the environment safety and consideration by Destini India Ltd.

 

The students learnt a lot about the manufacturing process, production layout, packaging and labeling along with the various quality control measures taken by the unit.

 

The visit turned out to be a learning opportunity for the students and helped them understand the working culture of an export house unit.
