The one-and-half hour session began with the welcome speech delivered by Col. Kewl Kohli, CSI Member who anchored the entire event and asked for the active participation of CSI members to convert the campaign into a movement. He invited Dr. Ajay Kumar, IAS, Joint Secretary & Director General, NIC, to come on the dais and throw some light on the initiatives that can be taken by the CSI fraternity to use IT as a tool to contribute to the national programme. Dr. Ajay Kumar, the chief guest of the session, delivered his key-note address optimistically by stating several interesting facts to encourage the audience about the potential of India as a country and the power of the youth to transform the entire nation. With the second-highest number of internet connections in the world along with a steep increase in the demand for use of internet, he stressed on the importance of the youth to explore the unknown avenues of IP creation, and the growing power of India in the field of IT and internet. Incubation Centres set up in different parts of the country are constantly striving to innovate products to decrease the dependence of India on importing from different countries. The initiative taken by the Government of India to convert the nation into the highest solar power generator of the world by increasing the generation from 20 GigaWatt to 100 GigaWatt by 2022 is ambitious and an upcoming platform for the youth to step into the ‘Make In India’ effort. He concluded his speech by making the audience aware of the effort undertaken by the Government to increase the number of Ph.D. scholar in the country to cater to the increasing demand of research and innovation.
