Conference On EIMA AGRIMACH INDIA 2015

 

Transforming Agriculture through Mechanization

 

3rd December 2015

   

FICCI in partnership with Ministry of Agriculture & Farmer Welfare Government of India organized a Conference on Transforming Agriculture through Mechanization on 3rd December 2015 at Pussa Campus, IARI, New Delhi. The conference was attended by more than 70 delegates representing different Government Ministries, Industry, Academia, Financial Institutions, and Experts connected with these sectors. Prof. D.V.Bhise, HOD Mechanical Engineering, Mr. Aishwary Sharma and Mr. Sarvagya Tripathi, Assistant Professor, Civil Engineering Department along with three students of Civil Engineering V Semester , Rajan Shah (8499), Manendra Kumar (848), Mrityanjay Singh (8488) from Dronacharya Group Of Institutions, Greater Noida attended the conference.

 

The conference was inaugurated by Hon’ble Union Minister of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Government of India Mr. Radha Mohan Singh. The Union Minister discussed the following topics:

 

1. New agriculture equipment business,

2. Current government initiatives,

3. Small and Moderate farmer in Indian context ,

4. Subsidies on agriculture equipment provided by Current government.

5. How agriculture can be transformed through mechanization

 

During the conference participants were made to understand the advanced technologies being used to optimize the yield of crops and new management processes in organizing large scale firms. During the morning session “Setting of Theme” was executed by Dr. Arbind Prasad, Director General, FICCI by addressing the audience about the critical issues hampering growth of small and marginal farmers.

 

Plenary Session I was on Innovations in Agriculture Value Chain for Efficient Farming where Mr. Satish Nadiger, Managing Director, John Deere, India discussed about various yield improvement techniques and custom hiring concept. H.E. Mr. Lorenzo Angeloni, Ambassador of Italy spoke about food security, mobilization of technique and export & import of agriculture products between Italy and India.

 

Mr. Jalaj Srivastava, Additional Secretary, Department of Agriculture, Cooperation and Farmers Welfare, Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Government of India informed participants about various schemes launched by the government for welfare of the farmers. Mr. Srivastava also shared development story of Northeast through the mechanization of agriculture.

 

Plenary Session II was based on the customization of agribusiness. During the session Mr. Deepak Kapoor, MD, Technokheti discussed about Institutionalizing Custom Hiring of Agribusiness. Mr. Kapoor also discussed custom hiring in volatile monsoon and development of Community Farming Centers in India.

 

Mr. Klaus Pentzlin, President, German Federation of Agricultural & Rural Contractors shared his experience on custom hiring centers in Germany. Mr. Klaus highlighted that German government is motivating and helping farmers to buy farm machinery by providing subsidy.

 

Plenary Session III was on policy plans for promotion of farm mechanization technologies. During the session Mr. P.K. Paikray, JDA (Engg.), Govt. of Odisha presented policy perspective from Govt. of Odisha for promotion of farm mechanization technologies. Mr. Paikray also shared government’s vision on use of contractors and system of sharing machinery in Odisha.

 

Mr. Alok Mishra, Management Expert- Agri & Allied sector spoke on role of Precision Farming Technologies in India. Mr. Mishra highlighted that Precision Farming can reap rich benefits in increasing the farm yield.

 

Mr. Sanjeev Asthana, Chairman, Agriculture, Skills Council of India emphasized on evolving changes in skilling Scenario and its impact on farm mechanization. He also discussed different policy plans for farm machineries.

 

Plenary Session IV was on Make in India – Investment Opportunities in Farm Machinery Sector where Mr. Jay Singh, MD Class Agricultural Machinery Pvt. Ltd. discussed about opportunities available in the form of farm mechanization in various states and urged manufacturers to tap these investment opportunities. Mr. Singh also spoke on challenges faced by farm machinery manufacturers in India.

 

The day ended on a note that innovations in farm machinery sector will drive the next phase of agricultural growth in the country and will boost the prospect of make in India as well. The conference gave useful insight into how development of farm machinery can increase the agriculture yield productivity and also made participants aware about various efforts done by government of India for use of Farm Mechanization Technologies by marginal farmers.
