The programme started with the lightning of the ceremonial lamp and invocation. Prof. (Dr.) B. M. K. Prasad, Principal, Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon welcomed all the participants. He addressed the academicians and enlightened them by telling the relevance and benefits of attending this National Conference. The keynote speaker Prof. (Dr.) Sneha Anand, Professor, IIT Delhi discussed about the major changes done in machines and tools to capture Biomedical Images and their benefits in diagnosing diseases. She said that several imaging modalities that exist, from well-known x-ray, ultrasound, computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to more recent nuclear imaging techniques such as Positron Emission Tomography (PET) and single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) that target ‘structural’ and ‘functional’ body imaging. She also said that with the advent of hybrid imaging technologies like PET/CT and SPECT/CT, and continued innovations in image processing and image analysis, the diagnostic imaging field is certainly slated for revolutionary applications. Her lecture was very informative and beneficial to understand the technological advancements in the field of Biomedical Image Analysis. |
