STC ON “Open Source Technologies”

A Short Term Course on “Open Source Technologies” was organized at Dronacharya Group of Institutions (Greater Noida) in collaboration with NITTTR Chandigarh through ICT during 29th Aug to 2nd Sep 2016. Twenty two Faculty Members of DGI, Greater Noida attended the Short Term Course.

Day 1: 29th August 2016

 

Mr. Amit Doegar, Assistant Professor, Dept of Computer Science, NITTTR Chandigarh initiated the session with a discussion on Python Programming Language. Difference between Python and the other object oriented programming platforms was discussed. The process of embedding videos and images in python code was demonstrated.

 

Day 2: 30th August 2016

 

Ms. Shano Solanki, Assistant Professor, Dept of Computer Science, NITTTR Chandigarh initiated the session with a discussion on IBM Bluemix Platform. She discussed the extraction of live datasets and sentiment analysis. IBM Bluemix provides platform for python, PHP, ASP.net and java etc.

 

Day 3: 31st August 2016

 

Dr. Sarbjeet Singh, Professor, UIET Chandigarh initiated the session with a discussion on graphs and their relevance in various areas. He discussed Social Network Analysis. He discussed different kinds of structures that can be investigated and visualized through SNA.

 

Mr. Doegar initiated the session on Virtualization Technology. He started with the explanation of the concept of virtualization. Virtualization technologies enable concurrent processing of multiple operating systems on a single system. He stated the benefits of virtualization including increased IT agility, flexibility, scalability, cost saving and faster deployment of workload.

 

Day 4: 1st September 2016

 

Mr. Sourav Kaushal, Assistant Professor of Computer Science and Engineering Department from NITTTR Chandigarh initiated the session with discussion on VMWare. He then demonstrated the working of HELIX Software. He talked about the basics of Volatility Framework.

 

In the next part of the session Ms. Mala Kalra gave a presentation on Mendeley Software. The afternoon session was on Rstudio, which is a very powerful programming tool.

 

Day 5: 2nd September 2016

 

The session started with a presentation on “Implementation of Web Server and Security”. There was a discussion on the concepts of cloud computing. The Dropbox app for PC offers an intuitive interface that allows users to drag and drop their files into cloud storage, which will then sync in the background.

 

The valedictory session was hosted by Ms. Shano Solanki. The participants of all the institutes gave their suggestions and feedback of the STC. Director, Prof. (Dr.) S. K. Bagga, Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida gave overall feedback of the STC. The session concluded with Vote of Thanks from Ms. Solanki. All the sessions of the STC had been very informative and interest - arousing.
