QEEE FEEDBACK SESSION

A Feedback Session of QEEE Coordinators was held on 13th April, 2016 in the ADI Seminar Hall at IIT Madras. It was aimed at gathering college’s views / comments about the Phase V QEEE Program conducted during January - April 2016, and to discuss about its effectiveness. Prof. Ashwani Kumar represented Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida in the Meet.

The Meeting started with a Welcome Note by Ms. Kavita Gopal, QEEE Coordinator - IITM, who welcomed all the coordinators and thanked them for attending the session at IITM.

Continuing with the session, Ms.Gopal said that there has been a significant rise in the registration of colleges for the Phase V program. The number of students submitting assignment have also gone up to 78% as against 70% during Phase IV. She said that 9577 students have successfully attended the sessions and have met the criteria for issue of certificates.

“Based on the attendance of students for the registered courses and the interactions that the students and Local Faculty had during the sessions, 31 colleges have made it to the Partner Category”, said Ms.Gopal. She also said that the results would soon be put on the QEEE portal after completion of the remaining Ph.V formalities.

The meeting was later conducted in Focused Group where 6 - 8 colleges were assigned a QEEE IITM Coordinator in order to address their issues more effectively. Based on the Feedbacks received, a list, as detailed below, was prepared and put forth for a general discussion:

Scheduling

1. Gaps to be avoided between sessions to maintain continuity

2. Date and time of sessions to be shared before hand

3. Short notices for new sessions to be avoided

Course Content

1. Research Topics and Case Studies to be included

2. CII Bridge to be improved with advanced techniques

3. Soft skills to be included

4. Core Electrical Engineering subjects to be included

5. GATE topics to be focused

Evaluation

1. Number of assignments to be equal across courses

2. Assignment upload size to be increased

3. Parallel sessions to be reduced

4. Student engagement to be increased

Management

1. SMS notification for rescheduling and other information to be initiated.

2. QEEE Coordinators to have rights to monitor Course Pack assessments.

3. Faculty wise mapping of students during attendance and assignment grading.

Prof. Ashok Jhunjhunwala, Chairman QEEE joined the meeting after lunch break. He welcomed all the coordinators and said that though QEEE’s “Direct to Student (D2S)” program has completed five phases of implementation across institutions in India, he was skeptical of the actual implementation at ground level. He suggested that the Institutions must register only for courses where they think that the students will be attending the sessions earnestly and attentively. He said that several times he felt unconnected during the QEEE Sessions when there was no or very little interactions. He urged all colleges to ask questions during the sessions and make use of the opportunity being provided through QEEE.

The workshop ended with the Vote of Thanks and distribution of Letter of Participation to the coordinators.
