Ms Garima Saini initiated the session with a presentation on “GSM Architecture”. She explained the purpose of BSC. She discussed the Base Station Subsystem Configuration. BSC handles allocation of radio channels, receives measurement from the mobile phones, and controls handovers from BTS to BTS. She gave an overview of Switching System. She then discussed Mobile Switching Centre. |
Dr. Simranjit Singh, Dept. of ECE, Punjabi University, Patiala gave a presentation on “Small Scale Multipath Propagation”. He presented Basic Wireless Communication System. |

Mr. Kapil Butani gave a presentation on “OFDMA”. He initiated the lecture by stating the
differences between FDMA and OFDMA. Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing is a
form of signal modulation that divides a high data rate modulating stream placing them onto
many slowly modulated narrowband close-spaced subcarriers and in this way is less sensitive to
frequency selective fading. |
Day 5: 27th May 2016 |
Dr. Arun Kumar Singh, Assistant Professor from Dept. of ECE, PEC University of Technology, Chandigarh initiated the session with a presentation on “Upcoming Research Areas in Wireless Communication”.
