TECHNICAL CONSULTING PROGRAM

Technical Consulting Program under the aegis of Consultancy Development Centre (CDC), DSIR, Ministry of Science & Technology, Govt. of India was conducted at Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida for faculty members and B.Tech Final Year Students. Five faculty members and twelve students participated in the program (list attached). Prof. TPN Singh, Advisor (R&D) was convener of the program. The consultancy sessions were held on 31st January, 2015, 7th February, 2015 , 14th February, 2015 and 21st February, 2015. The total program was of 20 hours duration. The examination of the participants for certification was held on 28th February, 2015.

The resource persons who conducted the program are registered experts with CDC. Detail of the program content and delivery by resource persons is given below:

Mr. S.K. Lalwani, Director Projects, Consultancy Development Centre inaugurated the session on 31st January, 2015. He delivered the key note address and emphasized the important role played by consultants in the economic development of the country. The consulting sector has positioned itself as one of the promising areas for growth and advancement of the nation. Project Management and Contract Management have assumed important dimensions in technical consulting to complete the large and complex assignments within cost and time frame work. The consultants must be equipped with knowledge and skills for value addition in service delivery and brand building and also maintain excellent relations with clients. He exhorted the participants to enter the domain of consulting and add value to themselves and the society. The inaugural session was attended by Dr. S. K. Bagga, Director, Prof. B. L. Kaul, Registrar, Prof. Ashwani Kumar, Administrator Academics and Heads of department.

31st January, 2015

The session was taken by Mr. D. Vasudevan on Overview of consulting – Types, Services, Selection Methods and Consulting Contracts and on Proposal Preparation including Costing Consulting Services.

7th February, 2015

The session was conducted by Mr. Navinender Gupta on the topic Contract and Construction Management, Project Management and Project Life Cycle.

14th  February, 2015

The session was taken by Mr. Satish Sehta, Business Head, Tata Consulting Engineers on the topic Client Interface and Management for Technical Consultant.The after lunch session on Skills and Competencies for Technical Consulting was proceeded by Prof. TPN Singh, Advisor (R&D), DGI, Greater Noida.

21st February, 2015

Mr. Sudhir Dhawan, CEO, Aether Engineering Corporation took sessions on the topics Marketing Technical Consulting Services and Practical Session on Securing, Planning and Executing Technical Consulting Projects.

28th February, 2015

Examination for the participants was conducted by CDC at DGI, Gr. Noida.

The participants exhibited keen interest and involvement towards the program. They have willingly accepted to have technical consulting as one of the career options.
