DELNET

A Workshop on DELNET: Resources, Services and Facilities & Koha: An open source integrated Library Management System was organized by DELNET in collaboration with Amity University, Noida on 20th July 2013.

Mr. Upendra Kumar Singh, Library Assistant attended the workshop.

Workshop commenced with the welcome speech by Dr. Rangashri Kishore, Director, Central Library, Amity University Noida. Welcoming the participants, Dr. Kishore said that the purpose of the workshop was to familiarize the participants with the Koha software which is an open source software, developed by Katipo Communications, New Zealand.

Dr. H. K. Kaul Director DELNET imparted the technical know-how to the participants for the installation, customization and running of various library applications.

Dr. Sangeeta Kaul Network Manager, DELNET said that Koha is considered as a highly sophisticated Integrated Library System (ILS) in the open source domain which offers full featured ILS including OPAC, circulation, cataloguing, acquisitions, serials control etc. The software is web-centric, modular, multilingual and conforms to bibliographic standards including MARC 21, Z 39.50, ISO 2709, etc. She said that DELNET is promoting the use of Koha, the open-source integrated library system, in India. This is done to help libraries to march ahead in the Internet era and serve their users with global resources for study, reference and research and try to be at par with the best libraries in the World.

The workshop ended with a vote of thanks by Dr. Alka Munjal, Director Academic & Chairman of Library committee, Amity University.
