EXCELLENCE IN HIGHER EDUCATION

I, Dr. J P Dudeja, participated as an Invited Speaker, in the 3-day National Conference on “Excellence in Higher Education” held at IIT Delhi on April 1-3, 2011.

The conference was inaugurated by Prof. Surendra Prasad, Director, IIT Delhi. The keynote address was given by Prof. Vinayshil Gautam of the Dept of Management Studies, IIT Delhi.

Over 350 participants and 140 speakers across the country (and a few from abroad) participated in this Conference. This included CEOs, Directors, Deans, Faculty, Researchers, Industrialists and Entrepreneurs.

About My Presentation

On 02 April, I presented a paper titled “Perception Difference between Industry and Engineering Institutes and its Impact on the Employability of Passing-out Students”. My paper highlighted the lack of understanding among the stakeholders, that is, the Industry, Engineering Institutes, the Academia and the Students, and its negative impact on the employability quotient of the passing-out students. My paper revisited and analysed these issues and recommended some steps in the realistic Indian scenario to minimize this gap.

My talk received an overwhelming interest among the august gathering of intellectuals in the form of questions and follow-up interactions during tea and lunch breaks.

I believe that the visibility and prestige of our College was enhanced by my participation in this Conference.
