A Short term course on “Micro-manufacturing and its Materials, Processes and Systems” (MMPS-2013) was held at MNNIT, Allahabad during 8th -12th July, 2013. Faculties from different institutes participated in the program.
The MMPS-2013 was inaugurated by Prof V. K. Jain, well established researcher and highly reputed professor from IIT Kanpur, in the field of Advanced Manufacturing and Micro-manufacturing. He explained that micro-machining has no constraints of size. The application of micro manufacturing is being applied in fields of IT & Telecommunication, Automobile sector, tooth implantation, medical field as micro robots and surgery gripper. |
Dr. S. J. Pawar, course coordinator, MMPS-2013, MNNIT Allahabad focused on the materials and measurements in micro-manufacturing. He said materials used currently are not adequate to meet challenges of generations to come. Thus the micro products and their materials have to be evolved for future challenges. |
Er. K. B. Judal, faculty from GEC, Patan focused his research area in the field of genetic algorithm used in micro-manufacturing. He emphasized on encoding and coding of GA in micro-manufacturing. He has researched on GA coding with Electro-Discharge Abrasive Grinding. |
Dr. Sanjay Mishra and Dr. N. Kumar, Professor from MNNIT, Allahabad focused onthe use of Laser Mechanism used in micro-machining and cutting. |
They explained the use of Laser tomachine at micro-level and the scopes of laser beamsat micro and nano level machining. |
Prof. S. Bhattacharya, from IIT, Kanpur & Dr. R. P. Tiwari, from MNNIT, Allahabad discussed their research on biomechanical micro-manufacturing. Their research showed the micro-material used in human body’s part plantation and implantations. |
Prof. V. Yadav course convener discussed the FEM used in EDMM (Electro-Discharge Micro-Machining). He encoded Mechanistic Model in EDMM process using MATLAB. He compared various types of modeling analysis and concluded that mechanistic model is far better than analytical and mathematical models. |
Dr. S. Saraswati, Professor from MNNIT, Allahabad focused on artificial neural network used in manufacturing at micro and nano level works. He focused on multi-layer & weight ratio and the values of single and multi-objective functions. |
Dr. S. B. Mishra, Professor from MNNIT, Allahabad defined their research on the coating process at micro and nano level of manufacturing. |
Dr. A. Narayan course coordinator presented his research of Electro-Discharge Micro-Machining. He has researched on the electro discharge at anode and cathode cavity of micro-machining. He explained how Electro-Discharge Micro-Machining (EDMM) differs from Electro-Discharge Machining (EDM). |
Prof. Anuj Jain, MNNIT, Allahabad, discussed about computerized fluid effect on micro-level manufacturing. He used ANSYS (Fluent) to solve analysis on fluid dynamic problems. |
Prof. Santosh Kumar and Dr. Zaheer Khan, Professors from IIT-BHU also contributed their research work during the workshop. Prof. S. Kumar discussed the forming process at micro-level. Dr. Z Khan reflected his views about micro welding and how itdiffers from conventional and advance welding. He also compared the heat affected zone (HAZ) of micro, advance and conventional welding processes. |
Prof. K. N. Pandey MNNIT, Allahabad spoke about the fracture defect in micro-manufacturing. He said that these fractures follow Griffith Laws of fracture mechanism. He described the ductile cracking region in brittle region. |
Prof. M. D. Singh highly, reputed Professor from MNNIT, Allahabad spoke about research in the field of Knowledge Management. He described about the knowledge management technique used in manufacturing and micro-manufacturing level. |
The workshop was a highly informative platform which discussed very effectively the field of Nano, Micro and Advanced Manufacturing System. |
The workshop concluded on 12th July, 2013 after the Valedictory Session. |
