Under the aegis of the NASSCOM Regional Council Noida special interest group on Industry - Academia and Mahamaya Technical University along with Galgotia College of Engineering & Technology as the host organized a Faculty Development Programme on 27th April 2013. The key focus area was on strengthening the industry - academic relations by mentoring colleges and students.
Mr. Divyanshu Sinha, Asst. Prof. Dept. of Computer Science Engineering, Ms. Prerna Singh, Asst. Professor, Dept. of Information Technology, Mr. Shamim Alam, Dept. of Electronics & Communication Engineering participated in the FDP.
The session commenced by chanting of Saraswati Vandana along with a Kathak performance by Ms. Dolly, a student of Galgotia College followed by a welcome address by Mr. Sundaresan, DirectorGalgotia College of Engineering & Technology.
Ms. Shruti Verma, Deputy Manager Initiatives & Forums started the session with a brief introduction of NASSCOM & initiatives undertaken. She also emphasized on the role faculty play in shaping the future of the young technocrats, entrepreneurs and leaders. It was an activity based session.
Mr. Daya Prakash, Head IT, LG Electronics deliberated on the various modern practices being followed by LG Electronics in the field of Information & Technology. He stated that the increasing gap between academia and industry can be fulfilled only if the faculty acts as a bridge between the two. The session concluded with queries from the participants which were aptly resolved by Mr. Daya Prakash.
The second session was conducted by Mr. Pervesh Dhingra, Remiel Softech Solutions Pvt. Ltd. Mr. Dhingra gave a walkthrough on various contemporary Software Development Models followed in the industry nowadays. He also briefed the participants on the advances in the Database Technology and also gave a practical demo on “How to create a layered application”.
The final session was based on Software Testing and its importance in the Industry. It mainly focused on the criticality of testing as a part of the Software Development process. The session was delivered by Mr. Siddharth BhattacharyaQA Manager, QA Infotech. He gave a brief overview of the various modern testing practices followed in the Industry. He also laid stress on certain skills that students should develop in order to excel in this Industry which included an Eye for detail, excellent analytical skills, proficiency in latest programming practices and technologies.
The session drew to a close with thanking the various dignitaries present there by Ms. Bhawna Malik,HOD Computer Science Galgotia College of Engineering & Technology.
The session was a very good networking opportunity and a great learning experience.
