S/W QUALITY TESTING

A one day workshop on Software Quality Testing was organized by the Department of CSE, on 15th October 2013. The main aim of conducting the workshop was to deliver the information regarding the need of software testing, the processes involved in testing and its implementation in the industry. Various quality parameters and testing techniques were demonstrated by using software testing tools which are commonly used in the industry.

The workshop was conducted by Ducat, Noida. The session was presented by Mr. Chandan Sinha, Senior Business Analyst, Dell Services. He has achieved various certifications till date for instance ISTQB Certification, HP Certification (QTP10.0, QC 10.0), STQC Certified, Retail Domain Certification from Reliance Internal and HIPPA Certification From Dell, to name a few. He has a long term experience in experience in IT projects working in various roles as a SAP-Tester, Retail and Hospitality domain, Health Care domain, Travel Domain and Web Service Testing.

The major points covered during the program were as follows:-

1. Introduction to Software Quality Testing (SQT)
        a. A brief introduction of Software Quality Testing, Quality Assurance and Quality Control.
        b. Introduction to Software Development life cycle (SDLC) and its implementation in the industries.
        c. Introduction to Software Testing techniques such as Black box testing, White box testing, Grey box testing etc.
        d. Various testing levels and there implementation.

2.  Manual testing
       a. Understanding Software Test Life Cycle (STLC)
       b. Identifying Testing Artifacts:
        - Test Plan
         -Designing Test Cases
         -Optimizing Test Cases
       c. Executing Testing Artifacts
       d. Bug Life Cycle

3.  Introduction to automated testing tools
        a. Quick Test Professional (QTP)
        b. Load Runner (LR)
        c. Quality Center (QC)

4.   Future scope and careers in Testing.

All the students actively participated in the workshop and cleared their queries during interaction with the trainer. The vote of thanks was delivered by Ms. Sarika Aggarwal, Faculty, CSE Department.
