An Interactive Talk on
Cloud Based Ecosystem for Active Learning

Mahamaya Technical University, Noida organized an Interactive Talk on Cloud Based Ecosystem for Active Learning on 1st July 2013 to enhance the education being imparted to students in the state of Uttar Pradesh. This event was attended by representatives from different colleges in the state. Mr. Divyanshu Sinha, Assistant Professor, represented Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida.

 

The event was flagged off by Prof. S. K. Kak, Vice Chancellor, MTU. He welcomed the Guest of Honor Dr. Krishna Vedula, Executive Director - Indo-US Collaboration in Engineering Education (IUCEE) andProfessor of Chemical Engineering and Dean Emeritus, Francis College of Engineering, University of Massachusetts Lowell.

 

Prof. Kak in his speech cited the fact that his aim was to eliminate the barrier of language from education and at the same time making knowledge easily and readily available to the students.

 

Dr. Vedula is well recognized globally for his contributions to engineering education, research, administration and outreach. He is internationally recognized for his research in processing and properties of materials for high temperature applications, with particular emphasis on powder processing and intermetallic compounds. He has been made a Fellow of American Society for Metals (ASM) and a Fellow of the American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE) in recognition of these professional achievements.

 

During the seminar, Dr. Vedula who has been facilitated by American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE) emphasized on the objective of IUCEE to improve quality and global relevance of engineering education in India and US. He also mentioned that for the past four years, IUCEE has facilitated interactions between several hundreds of US and Indian faculty. He also stressed on using the cloud infrastructure for improving the quality of engineering education globally by facilitating networking among engineering educational organizations across the world. He advocated the use of the cloud technology by various institutions to deliver and share high quality educational content to all the students of this region.

 

The session concluded with a Vote of Thanks to Dr. Krishna Vedula by Prof S. K. Kak who strongly reiterated creation of an environment of excellence in Engineering, Technology & Management education through optimally designed academic, operational and functional processes for every stakeholder. He also advised use of innovative teaching and learning methods for imparting domain knowledge, problem solving skills and lateral thinking. He stressed upon inculcation of professional excellence in every student of the University. He appealed to all the participants to actively participate in this joint venture so as to promote active learning and facilitate a healthy exchange of knowledge amongst peers.
