Faculty Development Workshop on Microsoft Technology Enriched Instruction

A Workshop on Microsoft Technology Enriched Instruction - A Partner in Learning was organized by G.D. Goenka University in association with Microsoft on 17th November, 2014. The workshop was designed exclusively for faculty and was attended by over 100 delegates from across the country. Prof. T Bothichandar, Department of Mechanical Engineering attended the workshop as delegates from Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida.

 

The key speakers of the event included Mr. Jonathan Cohen, Assistant Professor, Learning Technologies Division, Georgia State University’s College of Education and Ms. Robin Angottian, Associate Professor, Mathematics Education, University of Washington. The program commenced with introduction of the guest speakers to audience by Dr. Raj Singh, Professor and Vice Chancellor, G D Goenka University and presentation of bouquet to the guest speaker by Dr. Devender Kumar Jha, Dean, G D Goenka University Gurgaon.

 

Ms. Robin Angotti delivered the keynote address on Technology Enriched Instruction and tools for collaboration including Yammer and Padlet. He deliberated on the changing conditions of teaching and learning, the development of new skills, tools, and literacies needed for effective teaching and learning. He also shared his thoughts on the 21st Century Learning Design (21CLD), with an introduction to TPACK game and evaluation techniques.

 

Mr. Punya Mishra, Professor, Educational Psychology and Educational Technology, College of Education, Michigan State University elaborated the Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK) which is a framework to understand and describe the kind of knowledge needed by a teacher for effective pedagogical practice in a technology enhanced learning environment. He demonstrated the methodology of the TPACK Framework with an instructional problem that the audience was asked to analyze.

 

The workshop was lively and interactive. The participants took keen interest and discussed their queries in valedictory session. The workshop was quite beneficial to the faculties and they enriched their knowledge with practical design parameters for instructional teaching.
