Industrial visit to BOSCH Training Center

BOSCH Training Centre, Badarpur

11th October, 2014

An industrial visit to BOSCH Training Centre, Badarpur was organized on 11th October, 2014. Thirty Six students of Mechanical Engineering Branch accompanied by faculty members Mr. C. Ganesh and Mr. R. K. Shukla visited the Bosch Training Center. The main aim of the visit was to fill the gap by giving practical exposure to theory available in books like IC engines, Automobile Engineering and to bring awareness of current mechanical scenario.

Bosch Trainers, Ms. Deepika and Mr. Arpit Mehra welcomed the students and started with the introduction session. The main session got started by Ms. Deepika with introduction to Bosch and mentioning about it as world’s largest automotive parts company and automotive technology leaders (i.e., Fuel injection, Battery, Braking etc..). She explained how, if a car stuck with an issue, would be tested and how its engine would be diagnosed and could be fixed. She continued mentioning how the electronics and electrical parts play vital role in vehicles. She added that Bosch technology always gives clean and economical services. She stressed that Bosch has a total of 3850 patents for new innovations.

Mr. Arpit took up the next session and emphasized why there is the need of training. He gave some reasons as follows:

1. Lack of educational material with updated content on Automotive technology.
2. Educational institutions lab facilities are not inline with the technological advancement in Automotive industry.
3. The number of electronic components in Automotive industry is increasing which needs to be aware.

Watching the short video about BOSCH and its inventions followed by sightseeing session of engines/machines i.e Petrol engine, Diesel engine, Wheel Balancing machine, Tyre Chaning machine, Nitrogen Tyre Inflator, Alternator and Stator was the most interesting part of the visit. The program came to an end with Q&A session.

The visit was very interactive and knowledgeable. Students were able to get clarity on engines and its components at the basic level in detail. Visit was fruitful.
