CISCO - Workshop On Basic Concept of Computer Network Design |
28th - 29th March 2017 |
DGI - IEEE Student Chapter in association with DGI - CISCO Networking Academy organized a Two Day’s Workshop on “Basic Concept of Computer Network Design” on 28th - 29th March 2017. Fifty students from CSE, IT, CSIT, ME, ECE and EEE participated in this workshop. |
The objective of the workshop was to create awareness and help students develop skills of Network Design, Network Devices and make them understand the need of Routers, Switches, VLANs and enhancing their knowledge of Networking. |
The program was coordinated by students Mr. Apratim Kumar Singh from CSE second Year and Ms. Yashi Malhotra, from CSE Third Year. |
27th March 2017
A preliminary session on Network Design was conducted by Mr. Manoj Kumar Yadav and Dr. Somnath Sinha, CISCO Instructor, DGI Greater Noida on 27th March 2017. |
Mr. Manoj Kumar Yadav highlighted the importance of CISCO Certification and benefits of various networking courses i.e. CCENT and CCNA etc. provided by CISCO Networking Academy. He held a technical session which included the discussion on Ethernet, Network Layer and transport Layer. He also explained the operation of the Ethernet sub-layer, the purpose and characteristics of the Ethernet MAC address using CISCO - Simulator. |
Dr. Somnath Sinhadescribed the structure of an IPv4 address and the purpose of subnet mask. He explained multi task addresses, the role of ICMP in an IP network and uses of ping and traceroute utilities to test network connectivity. |
28th March 2017
Dr. S.K Bagga - Director, DGI, Greater Noida welcomed the Resource Person Mr. Siddharth Rajbhatt, Network Security Specialist [MPSEDC Ltd.] with a bouquet. |
Mr. Rajbhatt started the first session with an explanation of CISCO Packet Tracer (Simulator). He delivered a lecture on Virtual Local Area Network (VLAN), VLAN Implementation, VLAN Security and Design and its Troubleshooting using Cisco Packet Tracer. He discussed Network Layer, Design Issues in the Network Layer, Routing Algorithms and Network Layer in the Internet. |
While conducting a session on Dynamic Routing, Mr. Siddharth Rajbhatt explained the basic operations of protocols, compared dynamic and static routing and also discussed about Broadcast Domain with proper troubleshooting. He also provided students with a task to design a working network design based on concepts on VLAN. |
29th March 2017
Mr. Siddharth Rajbhatt demonstrated the best routes to transfer data from one node to another. He explained how routers communicate between each other in order to complete the task. He further discussed the routing protocols i. e. Routing Information Protocol (RIP) and Open Shortest Path First (OSPF). |
He also discussed about implementation of ACL and NAT characteristics, the benefits and drawbacks of NAT. He configured static NAT, dynamic NAT and port forwarding using the Command Line Interface (CLI). He explained in detail the various strategies that customers and network engineers can use to troubleshoot their networks for optimal performance. |
Mr. Rajbhatt provided a very impressive introduction and comprehensive outlook towards Computer Network Design. |
The workshop ended with presentation of Memento to Mr. Siddharth Rajbhatt.Participation Certificates were distributed to the students. Mr. Manoj Kumar Yadav, CISCO - Coordinator proposed Vote of Thanks. |
