IIT DELHI - OPEN HOUSE 2016

Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida organized a visit to IIT Delhi - Open House 2016 scheduled on 23rd April 2016. 50 students from Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida from branches (CSE / IT / ECE / EEE / CE / ME) along with six faculty members visited the Open house event.

 

IIT Delhi - Open House 2016

Like every year, IIT-Delhi is also set to open its gates to science and technology enthusiasts and showcase the best of research and innovation that was undertaken in the last one year. The idea is to inspire and motivate everyone, especially the young, to get to know more about science & Technology.

 

For the 12th Consecutive Year Indian Institute of Technology (IIT - Delhi) exhibit an extensive collection of innovative research. This is one day event dedicated to provide an insight into path breaking research work, student projects and the numerous advanced facilities and laboratories available in IIT Delhi to students and colleagues from other technical Institutes, school children, industries and general public.

 

Highlight of Open House 2016 :

A. Talk by Professor Subrat Kar (Professor of Electrical Engineering, IIT Delhi) amazing session on general idea of Engineering

1. After class 12th – “Should I go for Engineering”

2. Engineering Student – “I am doing engineering, Now What ?” (Fun Engineering- how to have fun while doing engineering) Students in Engineering colleges often fall out of love with engineering or start preparing for a management oriented career. This talk is about how to fall back in love with engineering and what it takes to make engineering fun.

B. Painting/Drawing Competition on Cyber Security Awareness.

C. On the Spot Energy Quiz Competition was organized by Energy Forum(CES, IIT Delhi) for school children, which test your general knowledge in the field of Energy and Environment. It aims to create awareness in the field of energy.

 

Highlight of Innovative Projects (Open House 2016)

Eighty research project was kept for demonstration for the visitors. Around 20 innovative projects with “High Societal Impact” was showcased at the event which provided an opportunity for the public to experience state-of-the-art vision. Among most interesting innovation which formed part of this showcase was high protective device, Liquefied Petroleum Gas Cylinder Cap remover, production of environmental friendly bio-fertilisers, affordable high quality tactile graphics for blind students, hip protection device for elderly and Drainage Master Plan for NCT of Delhi.

 

One of the main projects for this year was the ‘Preparation of Master Plan of Drainage for NCT of Delhi’. The project to formulate a master drainage plan for the city by 2021 was given to IIT by the Delhi government.

 

The platform of (IIT Delhi Open House 2016) was endeavour to bring in education, research, innovation and competent designs into the realm of market and quench the desire of young minds to know more about technology. Design, aesthetics and the market are generally not taught in the classrooms. But students have picked up the trade to exhibit their projects offering functional excellence and superior aesthetic value."
