Industrial Visit to PS Agritech Pvt. Ltd.

Sikandrabad, U. P.

23rd February 2017

An industrial visit to PS AGRITECH PVT. LTD., Sikandrabad was organized by Department of Mechanical Engineering, Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida under on 23rd February 2017. Twenty students of 4th Semester Mechanical Engineering along with Prof. T Bothichandar visited the Industry.

Mr. P. S. Chauhan - Director of the company and Mr. Om Prakesh - Manager, PS AGRITECH PVT LTD, Sikandrabad welcomed the students and briefed them about the company.

Mr. Om Prakesh, discussed the significance of forging practice. He showed and explained different forging operation like bell drop forging, warm forging, and cold forging, as well as open die forging and closed die forging.

While explaining the application of forgings, he said that drop forgings are used by industries such as automotive, agriculture, construction, hardware, mining, material handling and manufacturing. Products produced by drop forging include crank shafts, stub - axles, gears, chains, hooks, shackles, bolts, rods, medical implants, suspensions and general industrial equipment. Many hand tools have “Drop Forged” boldly imprinted on them to indicate their added strength and durability as a result of the forging process.

He further added that closed die forging is used for applications that require high quality components. People turn to closed die forgings when their project requires strength, reliability, and resistance to fatigue. Because of this, closed die forging is an appealing manufacturing process for numerous industries. Most metals and alloys can be forged through the closed die process. Closed die forgings of steel, stainless steel, titanium, aluminum, and other alloys can produce an unlimited variety of 3-D shapes in a wide range of weights and sizes. As a result, this is one of the best processes for complex shapes that require elaborate designs.

Students took keen interest in acquiring the knowledge of Manufacturing Science and Forging Technology as well as technical specifications of drop forging operations.
