Workshop at BOSCH Training Centre on Petrol Engine Disassembling

 

and Components Functionality

One day Workshop at ‘Bosch Training Centre’ Mohan Cooperative Industrial Estate, Badarpur, New Delhi was organized for Mechanical Engineering students on 8th September, 2014. Thirty Nine students along with Faculty, Mr. C Ganesh participated in the workshop.

 

The program started with introduction by Ms. Deepika Sharma, Trainer – Bosch. She Said that Bosch Group is a leading global supplier of technology and services, and is divided into four business sectors of Automotive Technology, Industrial Technology, Consumer Goods and Energy and Building Technology. Ambition to enhance the quality of life with solutions that are both innovative and beneficial.

 

Mr. Parag Kavthekar, Regional Trainer, BOSCH took up the session with brief overview about different types of petrol/diesel engines and how they got differed from one to other with respect to process and components in a more elaborated way. And explained various tests that need to be performed to check the engine health.

 

During disassembling session Mr. Kavthekar first explained the components of the Wagon R petrol engine followed by the basic process how the engine works. Then he disassembled piston assembly and answered to the questions posed regarding design features in the different models by showing the cut section of pistons available with him for clarity. He then focused on how combustion stroke varies in each cylinder in a multi-cylinder engine. At the same time he explained how the performance of engine varies with multiple inlet and exhaust valves. There after he explained the need for cooling system in 2, 3, 4 wheelers with details about the coolant. He also gave an overview on exhaust system with details how it minimizes the pollutants.

 

The session ended with overview on cut section of 4 cylinder petrol engine and 3 cylinder diesel engines.

Students took keen interest during the demonstration. The question and answers session was extremely interactive. The workshop was very fruitful as it demonstrated functionality of components and disassembling in detail.
