Seminar on

“Importance of CAD/CAM Training for Mechanical Engineers”

On 30th Jan, 2013

A Seminar on “Importance of CAD/CAM Training for Mechanical Engineers” was organized 30th Jan, 2013 by Mechanical Engineering Department. Mr. A. Vasistha Director, Noble Institute of Design Solutions (NIEDS) along with three experts delivered a presentation on Modeling and Manufacturing of components by using CAD and CNC machines.

At the outset Mr. A. Vasistha and his team was welcomed by Prof. D. V. Bhise, HoD Mechanical Engineering Dept. who briefed students about the importance of the seminar.

First session was conducted by Mr. A. Vasistha, who explained in detail the steps to convert a drawing (model) into CNC part program. He explained use of G and M codes for CNC programming. 5-6 part programs were shown to the students with step by step explanation of each block. Tool movement with respect to X, Y & Z coordinates is also shown through accurate animation.

The second session was conducted by Mr. Anurag, Design Expert from NIEDS, who explained the concept of CAD with a perfect presentation. He started with design of small components and finally assembled them to form a steam turbine. Failure analysis of the design was also done with temperature and stress distribution.

Question answer session was conducted wherein queries raised by the students were taken up and clarified by Mr. A. Vasistha and his team. The questions were pertaining to various Design softwares available and their applicability in industries.

Prof. D. V. Bhise, HOD – Dept. of Mechanical Engineering delivered the Vote of Thanks.
