International workshop for

“Cloud Computing and its Application”

 
Gautam Buddha University, Greater Noida organized an International Workshop on “Cloud Computing and its Applications” on 17th February 2013.

The workshop started at 10:30 AM.

The Deep Daan was done by the Dr. Anil Shrivastava, Director General Civil Aviation, CMD Pawan Hans Ltd. In his talk, he explained the use of distributed applications at his own organization. He explained how the Pawan Hans Ltd. keep track on its entire fleet of helicopters in real time.

During the inaugural session Prof. Bharat K. Bhargawa from Purdue University, USA shared his experiences on cloud computing and also shared one of his project “A mobile Cloud Pedestrian crossing guide for the Blind”. Prof. Bhargawa explained how a small device i.e. cellphone can be converted into a powerful computing device with the help of cloud computing to help a blind person to cross a signal.

Prof. (Dr.) Deepak Garg, Chair, IEEE CS India Council, India explained the use of cloud using BIG DATA concept. He told that Facebook produces 10 TB of data per day. Satellites produce 50TB per day and explained how such large data is processed by the use of BIG DATA cloud.

Post lunch Prof. Shyam Gupta, IIT Delhi, explained the role of computer network in cloud computing. In his lecture he spoke about Microsoft Bing search engine which uses 40000 nodes in a cluster and process 150 PB (peta data), Yahoo uses 42000 Nodes in a cluster and process 180 PB daily.
