SEMINAR NOV 2013

A one day Seminar on Industry Academia Bridging the Gap was organized by the Department of Computer Science & Engineering, Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida on 19th November, 2013 in collaboration with HCL Career Development Centre. The seminar was organized to apprise students of the changing dynamics of IT industry, decision making ability and how latest technologies are shaping the future.

Mr. Vineet Aurora, Area Sales Manager, HCL CDC delivered the introductory session aiming to evaluate the technical competence of the audience. The session was interactive, focusing on technical strength areas of the students and to map the skill set to the basic domains of Software Industry. In his address, Mr. Vineet explained to the students that contrary to popular belief, Software Industry is not about software development alone and opens up a plethora of opportunities.

The keynote address was delivered by Mr. Suganta R, National Business Head, HCL CDC. He apprised students of the umbrella activities beyond curriculam to add technical competence. He emphasized on the importance of research papers, attending seminars and conferences and most importantly earning global certifications. He discussed the industry wide hiring trends in the core IT, R&D, IT Enabled services and KPO Sectors and the relevance of beyond curriculum training to bridge the gap between academic curriculam and industry expectations.

The last technical session was delivered by Ms. Neelima Gupta, Centre Technical Head, HCL CDC. She taught the basics of Mobile Application development to the students and discussed Quality Control as a career option.

The seminar was a grand success judging by the numerous career related queries raised by the students, which were then answered to complete satisfaction by the resource persons.
