A seminar on ‘Teaching Control System with MATLAB & Simulink’ was held on 23rd April, 2014 at The Hans, New Delhi for faculty members, researchers and delegates from industries. This seminar was organized and conducted by Math Works India Pvt. Ltd., arenowned company which was established in 1984 and developed the MATLAB software. In 1992, company included Simulink in MATLAB package which is a rich library of toolboxes of different engineering discipline subjects.

Mr. Kapil Dev Sharma, Assistant Professor, Department of Electrical & Electronics Engineering and Mr. Dinesh Kumar, Assistant Professor, Dept. of Electronics & Communication Engineering from Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida attended the program. The purpose of this program was to improve the technical skills of faculty members and researchers in Teaching Control System using MATLAB & Simulink and also to make them aware of different toolboxes of Simulink and their implementation to various control system applications. The main focus of the seminar was on:

1. Teaching Engineering Concept using MATLAB & Simulink.

2. Gaining Practical Control System Design Experience using MATLAB & Simulink.

3. Hardware demo on Two Wheel Balancing Robot using LEGO NXT.

The program started at 9:15 AM with the inaugural speech of Mr. Deepak Sharma, Sales Manager, Northern India, Math works India Pvt. Ltd. In his speech Mr. Sharma highlighted the features of MATLAB & SIMULINK in the field of research and education. After the inaugural speech, Mr. Dhirendra Kumar, Application Engineer, Math works India Pvt. Ltd. started the first session of the seminar and focused on Teaching Engineering Concept using MATLAB & Simulink. During the session, his deliberation was centered on how to teach engineering fundamental (Electrical & Mechanical) using MATLAB & Simulink and what’s new in MATLAB & Simulink.

After tea break, second session of the program started at 11:30 AM. In this session, he discussed about various aspects of MATLAB uses such as Practical Control System Design Experience using MATLAB & Simulink, System Identification and Neural Network Based System Modeling Techniques and Enabling Project-Based Learning with MATLAB, Simulink and low cost hardware. He also demonstrated a live project (Two Wheel Balancing Robot using LEGO NXT) by interfacing hardware with MATLAB.

The seminar ended with the distribution of Certificate of Participation to all the participants.
