A Short Term Course on “Embedded World” was organized at NITTTR, Chandigarh during 20th to 24th March 2017. The basic objective of the course was to train and upgrade the faculty in the area of embedded system. |
Mr. Anoop Mishra, faculty Department of EEE, Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida attended the workshop as a participant. |
Day 1: 20th March 2017
The STC was inaugurated by Dr. Kanika Sharma (Associate Professor, ECE, NITTTR, Chandigarh). who discussed the objectives of the course and its contents. The participants introduced themselves and shared their expectation from this course. |
Dr. Kanika Sharma initiated the session with an overview of embedded system and talked about embedded processor, real time system processors etc. She also explained the need of Real Time Operating Systems (RTOs) and the differences between embedded processors and RTOs. She gave a brief idea about the classification of Embedded Systems i.e. Small Scale Embedded Systems, Medium Scale Embedded Systems, Sophisticate Scale Embedded Systems Later, she discussed the uses of embedded system with examples from our day today life. |
Day 2: 21st March 2017
First session of second day was conducted by Dr. Baban Kumar- Scientist, Central Scientific Instruments Organization (CSIO) Chandigarh in which he discussed different types of Peripheral Interface Controller (PIC), Microcontroller and their properties. He also focused on the significance of PIC microcontroller. |
In the second session, Dr. Baban Kumarexplained interfacing of PIC microcontroller with real world. He cited several examples like LED interfacing and other industrial load interfacing. He also explained the popularity of pic microcontroller in present scenario. |
Last session of the day was conducted by Dr. Anil Kumar (Associate Professor, Chandigarh College of Engineering and Technology, Chandigarh), in which he discussed about data parallel issues and MMX processors. |
Day 3: 22nd March 2017
On the third day Dr. Bhaskar Gupta (Associate Professor, CCET Chandigarh) conducted a session on MIPS processors (Microprocessor without interlocked pipeline stages), in which he explained different types of MIPS. He said that MIPS implementations are primarily used in embedded system such as Windows CE devices, routers, and residential gateways. |
After a short tea break, Dr. Bhaskar started the second session where he discussed multi-processor systems. He explained the use of two or more central processing units in a signal computer system. |
In the last session of the Dr. Bhaskarcontinued with modeling of multi processors systems. He explained its theoretic approach to develop and analyse the performance of homogeneous multiprocessor computer system evolving in a random environment. |
Day 4: 23rd March 2017
First session of day was conducted by Dr. Sandeep Singhal (Senior Scientist Central Scientific Instruments Organization (CSIO) Chandigarh), in which he discussed embedded system in IOTs. He explained about the popularities of the IOTs in all field of technology in present scenario. He further shared some details about his research work on these fields. |
In the second session, Dr. Sandeep talked about issues and challenges in embedded systems. He explained how to overcome the problem that occurs in embedded system design. |
In last session of the day Dr. Kanika Sharma explained about the application of embedded in wireless sensor network. She discussed the issues and challenges in this field. |
Day 5: 24th March 2017
First session was conducted by Mr. Suprit Singh (Associate Professor, BBSBEC Punjab) in which he discussed ARM processors and its application in embedded system. He also explained Arduino and its interfacing with Android application. |
In the second session Mr. Singh gave hands on training on Arduino & ARM processors. |
The presentation was followed by the Valedictory Session and interaction with remote centers. Participants gave their feedback on the course. |
