On 14th April, 2014 the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) India Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida Collegiate Club with 52 students and 2 faculty advisors was inaugurated by Mr. Anup Kacker, Executive Director SAE Northern Section in presence of Prof. (Dr.) M. S. Murali, Director, Prof. B. L. Kaul, Registrar, Prof. Ashwani Kumar, Academic Administrator and Prof. D. V. Bhise, Head of Department – Mechanical Branch, Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida.

SAE INDIA is a professional engineering society whose membership represents practically every engineering and scientific discipline. By becoming a member of SAE INDIA, member’s benefits are geared specifically to the needs of the mobility engineering community. Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida took the opportunity to enrich the formal education and professional development of the students by starting SAE Collegiate Club.

In the inaugural address Prof (Dr.) M. S. Murali, motivated the students to get ignited with creative thinking and explore the way to make use of SAE INDIA to the extreme for the self-betterment. He briefed about how SAE INDIA regularly plans and offer many career development activities such as job fairs, career enhancement sessions, resume/recruitment boards, and resume database services.

Prof. D. V. Bhise in his address explained the purpose of starting SAE India Collegiate club at the institute. He added that students need to stay updated on issues and trends affecting their career path. He said that SAE India collegiate club is a substantial step towards this. SAE India membership and involvement will offer a wealth of information to students that will keep them connected to current developments in specific field of interest. He further added that SAE membership will enhance students’ professional development. He then announced names of the SAEINDIA DGI Greater Noida Collegiate Club’s executive committee.

Addressing the students’ Chief Guest Mr. Anup Kacker emphasized on the vision to identify and prioritize opportunities and relate novel technologies with new market opportunities especially in the area of Energy. He also shared list of activities conducted by SAE India such as SAENIS Student Convention, SAE INDIA Virtual Baja, SAENIS Effi-cycle, Engine Workshops and Industrial visits. He further said that SAE provides a platform for its members to attend various technical seminars, workshops, ‘SAE INDIA International Mobility Conference’ and project exhibitions. He also discussed about how SAE INDIA plays its role in lightening up minds of 5th to 8th class kids by “A World In Motion” program. He emphasized that to enhance project skills and to improve communication; the competitions are SUPRA SAE INDIA, BAJA SAEINDIA, EFFI CYCLE and AERO DESIGN etc.

Towards the end of the address question answer session was held, where students asked number of questions /doubts to Mr. Kacker and he promptly addressed all the questions. The event ended with Director - Prof. (Dr.) M. S. Murali presenting a Memento to Mr. Anup Kacker as a token of reverence.
