WORKSHOP REPORT – EMERGENCE OF NANOTECHNOLOGY



A one day workshop on ‘Emergence of Nanotechnology’ was organized at IILM, Greater Noida on 18th October 2013. Thirteen students from CSE Vth Semester accompanied by Ms. Bhanu Bhardwaj, *Faculty CSE*, attended the event. The workshop was quite educational and amazing as it was quite a trip towards the future emergence of new innovations discovered in this era.

The inaugural ceremony comprised of the "Lamp Lightening and SARASWATI VANDANA” followed by a warm welcome speech given by Dr. Chaithi Ganguly, Director IILM. The Guest Speakers were welcomed amidst applause with flowers as a token of respect.

The first session was conducted by Dr. Neeraj Dibagh (Chairman, Department of Bio & NanoTechnology, Guru Jambeshwar Univ. of Science & Technology, Hissar, Haryana) on the topic "Nanotechnology Changing Everything, where he discussed the application of nanotechnology in our day to day life. This session revealed some never heard facts about Nanotechnology and gave insights into practical applications.

The topics covered in this session included: *1. Nanotechnology in medical science.* 2. Nanotechnology in biotechnology. 3. Green nanotechnology for environment development. 4. Energy applications of nanotechnology. 5. Industrial applications of nanotechnology.

It was followed by an introduction to *"Basics of nanotechnology and computational techniques to investigate current issues in bio-nanotechnology"* by Dr. R. K. Brojen Singh (Assistant Professor, Centre of Computational Biology and Bioinformatics, SCIS, JNU, New Delhi.) He discussed the various uses of nanotechnology in medical science and bio technology with amazing facts.

The post lunch session was on the topic "Nanotechnology –A Technological future", presented by Dr. Aravind Kumar Jain (Dean, School of Basic & Applied Sciences, Galgotia University.

The last session of the day was conducted by Dr. N. R. Biswas, Professor, Department of Pharmacology, All India Institute of Medical Sciences. New Delhi) on the topic "Nanotechnology in Ophthalmology" with deliberations about the latest innovation brought by nanotechnology in medical science.

The workshop sessions concluded with a vote of thanks to all the distinguished dignitaries by Ms. Chaithi Ganguly, Director IILM.
