Programme on ‘Lean Management’ |

A three day training programme on Lean Management was conducted by National Institute for Entrepreneurship and Small Business Development (NIESBUD), Noida Campus during June 23rd - 25th, 2014. Mr. Rahul Raj, a Senior Consultant and Expert in the area of Lean Management and Six Sigma Approach, was the resource person. Mr. Ankush Yadav, Assistant Professor, Mechanical Engineering represented Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida as a participant for the program. |

Day 1 : 23rd June, 2014
First quarter was an interactive session with the trainer Mr. Raj who explained the importance of pouring compliments and appreciations and how to wear these things in our professional life. The main motive of this session was to make the participants interactive and communicative so that there should be no communication gap between the trainer and the participants. |
|
Concepts of Lean Management and basic problems which occur in daily life were discussed in the session. He also discussed the industrial problems faced by an entrepreneur and solution offered by lean management approach to these problems. During post -lunch session different work aspects of lean management and some basic examples of lean management related to real time industrial problems were discussed with case studies of organizations that worked and implemented the lean management in their work culture. |

An audio video illustrations were shown to the participants so as to demonstrate applications of lean management system to solve various industrial problems. |

Day 2 : 24th June, 2014
The session started with Mr. Raj’s discussion about the tools used in lean management like:
1. 5 WHYs
2. 5S tool
3. 7S tool
4. Therbling’s concept
5. The Gimba (Japanese concept )

Importance as well as applications of these tools was discussed at length during consecutive sessions. Case studies of successful implementation of the Six Sigma philosophy were shown during the session. Demonstration was also given on each tool used in Lean Management approach. |
|
In the evening session all the participants were given individual tasks to make a flow process using lean management system so that it ultimate goal of the organization can be achieved. All the participants did that task with full dedication. |
|
Day 3 : 25th June, 2014
On the final day in the morning session the trainer, Mr. Raj, discussed key roles of employee and employer and their management, human resource and the total management system analysis which included the different aspects such as VSM (Value Stream Mapping), MSM (Measurement System Analysis), employee activity and different monitoring system or methods. |
|
After the tea session the trainer discussed the causes and effect which were covered in the past two days like Fish Bone Analysis, Check Sheet, Pareto Chart, Main Lean Measures etc. He illustrated these tools with some examples which helped in understanding lean measurement concept. |
During lunch session “Full activity” and “Full work” was discussed. He also briefed about the ‘Batch Mentality’ and the traditional improvement efforts. |
|
In the concluding session Vote of Thanks was delivered by Shri. Sunil Bhardwaj (Joint Director, NIESBUD). He summarized the workshop and briefed about activities being organized by NIESBUD for the benefit of the entrepreneurs. The session came to an end with the Award of Certificate of Participation to all the participants. |
|
The training programme on Lean Management provided an insight into modern management philosophies used in industries now a day. Effective implementation of these philosophies can bring in the desired results for the organizations. |
