Workshop on Virtual Labs

Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida organized a Workshop on ‘Virtual Labs’ on 08 March 2016. Students from First, Second & Third Year attended the workshop. Mr. Tanmay Tarun Das, Outreach In – Charge, V - Lab, Mr. Jithin Lal, V - Lab Mentor and Mr. Ashish Mudgil, V - Lab Mentor, IIT Delhi were the Resource Persons for the workshop.

 

The objective of the workshop was to create awareness of Virtual Labs among students and faculty members.

 

The workshop commenced with the floral welcome of the resource persons by Prof. (Dr.) S.K. Bagga, Director, DGI, Greater Noida. Prof. Bagga gave a brief to students about the advantages and usefulness of virtual labs. He encouraged the students to utilize the Virtual Lab facility. This was followed by Prof. Vinod Kumar’s (HOD - ECE, DGI, Greater Noida) address to the students regarding various aspects of utilization of virtual labs.

 

Mr. Das started the session with the introduction of his team members and gave an overview of Virtual Labs. He also discussed the daily usage and benefits of Virtual Labs.

 

The first Technical Session began with the presentation and brief overview of national impact of Virtual Lab on students and teachers by Mr. Jithin Lal. He explained the role and importance of Virtual Labs in bridging the gap between the typical syllabi of Technical Universities and existing Labs.

 

The next speaker, Mr. Mudgil demonstrated the experiment of Basic Electronics such as Diode Application and Kirchhoff’s Law for the students of 1st year CSE / IT and EEE / ECE. He also discussed the uses of Virtual Lab in their Courses. After the session, students were given hands-on practice in various computer labs followed by the Quiz.

 

In the next session, the same experiments were demonstrated for ME / CE 1st year students.

 

Feedback on the V - Lab experiments executed by the students themselves was submitted online.

 

During Post Lunch Sessions, Mr. Jithin Lal demonstrated the Mechanical Engineering experiments like Metal Forming Lab, Material Response to Micro Structural Mechanical Thermal and Biological Simulations for the students of ME - II & III year. The students were given hands on practice in labs.

 

The workshop came to an end with presentation of memento to the resource persons by Prof. S.K. Bagga.
