Dr. Tajinder Singh from Rotary Blood Bank said: "Blood transfusion saves lives, but millions of patients needing this do not have timely access to safe blood. However, it is estimated that donation by 1% of the population is on average the minimum needed to meet a nation's most basic requirements for blood. As such, if such camps become ideal followings, patients being treated for accidents, surgery, premature deliveries, needing platelets etc will certainly have 100% chances of gaining speedy recovery. In fact, every one of us is getting a chance to save four lives by donating one unit (350ml) of blood." |
