Industrial visit to “Prasar Metal Engineering Pvt. Ltd.,”, Surajpur, Greater Noida, was organized for III Semester Mechanical Engineering students on 23rd Aug’ 2013. Thirty Five students along with two faculty members visited this industry. The students assembled in the college at 9:00 AM and left the college in the bus. They reached the factory at 9:30 AM.

“Prasar Metal Engineering Pvt. Ltd.” is an ISO 9001:2000 certified company engaged in manufacturing bicycle and tricycle frames. Company supplies these frames to BSA and Hercules cycles.

Visit began with a demonstration by Mr. J. S. Rana, Managing Director of the company regarding the product and the processes through which it is manufactured. The company manufactures these bicycles frames by using various machines and welding process as per the specification provided by BSA and Hercules. For manufacturing this bicycle frames, Lathe machines are used for machining and turning of work piece. Drilling machines are used for making holes of different sizes. Pipe shaping machines are used for bending pipes and for converting pipes into various shapes. After converting these pipes into desired shape, MIG welding is done to join all these pipes. Finally these frames are tested for correct center of gravity (CG), so that the frame remains balanced. Company produces 12000 framesevery month.

The visit came to an end at 3:00 PM. It was an informative and successful visit. The students learned few mechanical applications and about industrial robotics.
