Faculty Interaction On
Research Aspects in Computer Science and Information Technology
ITS Engineering College, Greater Noida
7th August 2013

Ms. Prerna Singh and Ms. Himani Bansal Assistant Professor in Department of Information Technology attend a Faculty Interaction on “Research Aspects in Computer Science and Information Technology” with Dr. Sartaj Sahni, Professor, University of Florida, Florida, USA at I.T.S Engineering College, Greater Noida on August 7th, 2013.

Dr. Sartaj Sahni, is a man with great academic stature. He has to his honor 48 Books/ Book Chapters including internationally acclaimed book on Data Structures published in 7 international languages, over 400+ research papers, 8 copyrights and 16 patents. He has guided more than 45 research scholars who have completed their doctorate under his guidance.

He interacted with the invited faculties discussing about the latest research trends in algorithms such as smart energy grids, bio-informatics, reconfiguration of information into best topologies and its applications. According to him, algorithm is the heart of every technology related to Computer Science and Information Technology. He explained the procedure of algorithms analysis in current scenario; in terms of amortized costs in addition to average and worst case complexity. He also discussed ‘Green Computing in IT’- how scientists are trying to generate a computer that has higher performance and less consumption of power and resources. He tried to emphasize on designing of architecture that is energy efficient thus reducing carbon footprint.

This knowledge enhancing session lasted for about two hours and was of great help for faculty members who are or will be budding researchers.
