Summer Faculty Research Fellow Programme (SFRF-2013)
Under QIP/CEP Programme

Mr. Akhilesh Dwivedi, Assistant Professor, Dept. of IT, was delegated to attend Summer Faculty Research Fellow Programme (SFRF-2013) under Quality Improvement Programme: Continuing Education Programme (QIP/CEP) held at IIT Delhi during 16th May, 2013 to 16th July, 2013. He worked under the supervision of Dr. Ram Lal (Professor-Department of Computer Services Centre) in his area of interest i.e. Cryptography and Network Security.

 

The SFRF was attended by more than 50 participants from across various reputed colleges all over the country. It was inaugurated on Thursday, 16th May, 2013 The main objective of conducting SFRF Programme was to help and uplift the research culture and research standards in engineering colleges outside IIT system with the help of quality research and resource development. It was started by CEP in 2008.

 

Mr. Dwivedi worked on elliptic curves and its applications in cryptography during his stay in IIT Delhi. Number Theory, Graph Theory, Chinese Remainder Theorem and its practices on cryptography using MATLAB were taught during the initial days including Elliptic curve cryptography through MATLAB. Later he created mathematical proof of new applications of CRT and ECC and submitted a report. He also delivered a presentation on it to his mentor as per programme guidelines.

 

A get together was organized on Monday, July 01, 2013 at 11:00 AM. It was organized to have the feedback about the program and scope for further improvements. It was addressed by QIP Coordinator Prof. Srinivas V. Veeravalli in the presence of Prof. R. K. Shevgaonkar Director, IIT Delhi, Prof. S. K. Koul, Deputy Director (Strategy & Planning) IIT Delhi, Prof. Anurag Sharma, Dean Academics-IIT Delhi and Prof. Sushil Dean Faculty IIT Delhi. They shared the upcoming activities to be undertaken by IIT Delhi. It was revealed that IIT Delhi will provide special benefits to faculty members in various disciplines to encourage quality research. SFRF fellows also shared their views about supportive nature of the mentors and facilities provided by IIT Delhi.
