TWO WEEKS ISTE WORKSHOP ON ENGINEERING MECHANICS

 
 

Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay organized A two-week ISTE Workshop on Engineering Mechanics from 26th November– 06th December, 2013 at Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon under the supervision of Prof. Deepak B. Phatak, Project Coordinator. The Workshop was conducted under National Mission on Education through ICT sponsored by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Govt. of India.The objective of this workshop was to introduce the fundamentals of Engineering Mechanics with special emphasis on problem solving. A total number of 32 faculty members from DCE, Gurgaon availed the opportunity to attend the workshop.

 

The lecture transmission and live interaction took place in distance mode using the A-VIEW technology through internet. This initiative is a part of the ‘National Mission on Education through ICT,’ which is supported by the Ministry of Human Resources and Development, New Delhi. All the lectures and tutorial sessions were recorded so that the final edited audio-visual contents, along with other course material will be released under Open Source and can be freely used later by all teachers and students.

 

The distinguished experts Prof. Mandar Inamdar and Prof. Sauvik Banerjee, from IIT Bombay disseminated the knowledge on Vector Mechanics, Equilibrium of Rigid bodies, Equivalent System of Forces, Analysis of Structures, Friction, Energy Methods, Free Vibrations of Mass-Spring Systems, Simple Harmonic Motion, Equation of Motion, Natural Frequency of Vibration, Free Vibration of Rigid Bodies etc.

 

The workshop was informative and useful as it played a significant role in enhancing the knowledge of attendees.
